Great camping ground. It has a combination of cabins already prepared with mats, or plots where you can pitch a tent. The cabins are an experience to remember as they have a fire stove from the old days, and although the staff will show you how to use it, the true test comes when you have to build a fire in your own cabin. Succeed, and you look like a real man! Fail, and you will freeze over night! It is totally worth it...
But, take into consideration that the night stay is cheap for a reason...
Firewood, pots, pans, matches, starter feul, sleeping bag, shower and food costs money. You will spend and spend if you come under prepared. Be careful.
One of the best campsites in Japan! A lot to do for the kids -- trails, treehouses connected to each other, trampoline, etc. Smooth drive thru check-in and check-out. Shop sells most of the essentials, rental equipment are clean and in good condition. Shared facilities (toilets, kitchen, shower rooms were regularly cleaned. Garbage bags were provided. Social distancing and wearing a mask were imposed, and observed. Most of the tent area had electricity; we brought a hot carpet and survived freezing temperatures! Telework space was available (as of Nov 2020) with power source and decent WiFi speed.
Rented one of the log houses. Included kitchen, bath, toilet, stove inside. Outside under a roof was a fireplace and cooking stove.
Although it was raining most of the day and all night, it was the best and most comfortable camping I ever enjoyed!
For those with kids or dogs, there is plenty space to let them play while being able to watch them.
Friendly and helpful staff. English instructions too for those not able to read English.
Tip of the day: in Karuizawa there's a shop which makes saussages like in Germany. Get the "Bratwurst" and "Schweinewürstchen" . Absolutely fantastic for grilling.
Great camping base, with athletic playground for kids, and there is a trail among with a river, and you can cross the river to the other sideto see the fantastic grassland view.
Extremely beautiful place for friends or family to camp here.
This has to be my most favorite spot I have found yet in Japan.. mega awesome
